 FOUNDATION UNIT

Numeracy​
  • orally count forwards to 30 
  • recognise and order numbers to 20
  • recognise ordinal number to 10th place
  • use the language of 1 more and one less to 10
  • make realistic estimates of objects to 10
  • use direct and indirect comparisons to decide which one is longer
  • compare objects that are heavier / lighter 
  • identify objects that hold more and hold less
  • answers yes/no questions to collect information

Literacy & Spelling 
  • use early reading strategies
  • recognise gold and blue sight words within simple texts
  • recognise, name and identify the sounds of the following letters:Dd, Ee, Ll, Rr, Ff, Vv, Uu, Jj, Ww, Zz, Xx, Yy and Qq
  • read texts with simple and predictable repeating patterns
  • read rhyming words
  • segment CVC words (initial, end and middle)
  • share feelings and thoughts about the events and characters in texts
  • ask and answer questions to clarify understanding
  • identify which letters are vowels and consonants
  • record the following codes of the alphabet; Aa, Pa, Tt, Ii, Mm, Ss, Nn, Oo, Bb, Cc, Gg and Hh
  • use finger spaces between words
  • experiment with full stops in my writing
  • use onset and rime to spell words 
  • commence writing from left to right
