SCHOOL UPGRADES 2020 / 2021

Information about building projects 2020 / 2021
The Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) oversees all of our school building projects.  Information about plans and images of the building works currently being undertaken are available at the VSBA website for Gisborne Primary School at the following link:  VSBA Gisborne Primary School Building Project Information

Further new playground equipment beside the new gym will also be funded by the project at the completion of the gym building.

 Building Project and Playgrounds Update
In term 4 (2020) and during 2021, children won’t have all the play equipment they are used to, however there are lots of options in other play areas around the school including the basketball rings, spider climbing frame, mud kitchen, sand pit, adventure playground, gaga pits, horseshoe and other turf areas.  Equipment is put out by staff at each break, retaining wall and lunch time activities indoors.  For a map of future play spaces see the following link: Future Playground Map

We are currently convening a committee of people to look at the play-spaces around the school. This committee will include the principals, and representatives from the School Council, teachers and education support staff, as well as students who are always involved in decisions around play ideas. If you would be interested in joining the committee please contact the office. School Council also provides feedback and ideas to represent community views around providing the best school experience for our students.

We are constantly discussing this at school and liaising with the (VSBA) to do the detailed planning that ensures any equipment installed is safe and the spaces chosen are suitable. We have playground and landscape architecture experts also visiting the school site to assist with an overall plan for us.  This will include spaces for our ideas for nature play, cubbies on the retaining wall and “Loose Parts” (playground idea from the UK - imagination/critical thinking/teamwork/sustainability) as well as playground equipment.
